Auto Accessories – Cold Air Intake

Friday, September 11th, 2009

So let’s talk about the entire idea of an intake and particularly of a cold air intake.

Everyone knows that an engine mixes air and fuel together, compresses it and then ignites the mixture that creates a little explosion in your cylinders. So in the digital world the engine PC takes care of this mixture to the best of it’s capability. Here is another piece of info, the chillier the air is, the denser it is. What does it mean to you? The denser the air in the mix with fuel, the larger the explosion in your cylinders, the larger the explosion in your cylinders, the more hp you get.

So we would like to use this and put in as cold (dense) air as we are able to in our cylinders to form more hp. Now to make a clarification of what a cold air intake actually is and what it is not.

There are intakes that are called short or ram intakes, and these aren’t considered cold air intakes. It’s a better performing air intake system since it involves a better respiring filter and an intake tube which has less turns and kinks to boost the intake of air to your engine. Yet, consider where the short or ram intake is placed; right next to the engine.

Well, if you have not spotted the engine produces heat and that heat is kept in the engine compartment, therefore when those short or ram air intakes suck in air they’re sucking in the hot air in the engine compartment. Since hot air is less dense than cold air, you may not be getting the absolute best performance out of engine. Leaving stage right, the cold air intake. Now there are thousands of diversifications as to what a cold air intake looks like, there’s no real modification for what it does. The filter is put as far distant as practical from the engine where it can suck in background air, which mostly is chillier than the air within your engine compartment. They’re done in many ways, some have longer intake tubes and are put either within the fender or downwards towards the ground to suck in unpolluted air. Some employ a box that forestalls air from the engine compartment to enter so that in can sucks in air from the outside. Whichever company you select to buy this item from, buy from a credible source. A good credible company invests lots of money in research and development to offer you the best possible product and while some may look the part, they do not perform the part. This has been a short intro to a one of the favorite vehicle accessories in the market: The Cold Air Intake. We are going to be making more articles about automobile accessories in the future so please visit us at the resource box below and ensure you have the latest news on what’s what in the automobile modifiers industry.

Auto Sound Systems are an Investment in your Car Make it Great

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

For people that love tunes and the power to take them along wherever you’ll ramble, there are some great automobile sounds systems that let you essentially plug in your favorite tunes to play as you go. It does not really count which style of MP3 player you use, almost all of the more recent vehicle sound systems at least have the facility to read and interpret the material from these players into great music for you to enjoy on your ride by simply plugging your MP3 player into the vehicle stereo. Many folks find that lugging around an MP3 player with all our fave tunes (or at least almost all of them-with up to forty gigs of drive space it’d take a bit to fill utterly) is far easier and more effective than making an attempt to lug around a giant case of CDs. It is also great for those among us who find ourselves disappointed when we purchase CDs to find that we only like 1 or 2 songs. Having a car sound system that permits you to enjoy the convenience of simply plugging in either your MP3 player or a memory card or stick to have your favorite songs at the ends of your fingers at every point is superb. I am not sure about you, but I’m positively hooked on audio books. I like to read and find so very little spare time in which to get my feel of the most recent and best seller. Audio books let me hear the stories I have been impatiently awaiting at my convenience and in my SUV as I am making my journey or running errands. These books are also a way to enjoy long car journeys.

You can even test your local library to find a good selection.

I sometimes attempt to find stories that might interest the kids on long vehicle rides as well (such as the Harry Potter books or The Polar Express).

This instills a love for reading in them and I do not need to fret about the stray ‘grown up’ word that some audio books contain.

Good automobile sound systems not only play great music but also sound glorious when it comes to the spoken word also. This is not just true when it comes to books on tape, CD, or MP3 but also talk radio and state stories stations also.

When you start your hunt for your next automobile sound system ensures you consider all of the possible features you may need to include. Select the car sound system which will suit your requirements and interest’s best and like it for so long as you can. A good sound system is something that will stay with your automobile, wagon, or SUV so it’s best to make that particular investment long before you intend to trade your vehicle in on another. At the same time a good vehicle sound system can be a superb motivation to hang onto your automobile a little while longer.

Auto Paint How To: A Basic Guide

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Whether you are just curious about re-spraying a little area to cover up some paint chips, or need to treat your automobile to a custom painting which will let you like envious stares from each pedestrian you pass, you’ll need to follow some essential rules, and have the correct tools to hand to carry out the work to a high standard. The very first thing to say about car painting is that you should generally work in a well ventilated area. Paint fumes can include a number of solvents that can leave you feeling light-headed and even poison you if you breathe them, so be sure there’s free passage of air thru your work shop when you’re painting. You should also wear a respirator mask during painting or preparation to avoid inhaling any paint and loose dust that you release.

To get the best effects when painting, you also need to make certain that you’re able to keep dust to a minimum. You can do a good environment by hanging sheets from floor to ceiling in the area where you are working, and wearing overalls. You need to also vacuum clean the area where you are painting at the start of each session. When you apply auto body paint, the important thing is to get a good even finish that looks good, and the key to getting a good finish has a great start. Get it right, and you’ll be ready to enjoy a wonderful smooth finish that may last for several years and look good, skimp on your preparation, and your finish will look tacky immediately, and then become worse over a period of time. Before you paint, you want to strip off the old painting. You can do this with a solvent based paint remover, or do it the hard way by sanding back the panels to reveal metal employing a sander.

Whichever methodology you select, you want to ensure that you have got an extremely smooth base. To reach this, use the best grade abrasive paper available, and be ready to put significant time into the job.

After you are pleased with your base, you can start using the primer. Employ a HLVP spray gun hooked up to an air compressor, as this is far more even than an aerosol, and may be much less expensive in the future. You must use long sweeping strokes in a single direction to get a strong base to color onto. After each coat, permit the paint to dry, and then send it back to a smooth surface. Then apply the following coat in strokes that go at ninety degrees to the previous layer, as this can produce an even color.

There are 2 kinds of automobile paint that you may use on a vehicle, cellulose based and 2 Pack automobile paint. Most painters now use Two Pack as it gives a better finish, and metallic colors are available, while cellulose paint can be tricky to cope with, and is best used on classic autos where you are attempting to recapture an older style.

As with the primer, you must apply the vehicle paint in coats, spraying in a single direction, then sanding back to a fine surface to remove any defects, before using the next layer at right angles to the prior one.

Between coats, it is critical to scrub the nozzles on your HVLP spray gun, as otherwise, tiny flakes of dried paint can be involved in the spray and cause defects which will wreck the last effect. When you are satisfied that you’ve got a good covering and applied enough coats of vehicle body paint to make a superb finish, apply another coat for best effects, permit it to dry, and then sand back for a smooth finish. You should leave the paint to dry absolutely for twenty-four hours and then apply a wax polish to the entire body to defend your new painting and give it a shine that may actually catch the eye of any one you pass on the road.
